AI Can Drive Inclusive Growth & National Transformation; Says President Murmu

President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday described artificial intelligence as a catalyst for national progress and inclusive development while launching the ‘Skill the Nation’ Challenge at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre.

She positioned AI not merely as a technological advancement but as a transformative force capable of reshaping India’s economic and social future.

Addressing policymakers, students, and industry representatives, the President stated that artificial intelligence is transforming the way societies function globally.

She said AI is altering the way people learn, work, access services, and confront some of humanity’s most complex challenges. For a young and aspirational country like India, she added, AI represents a historic opportunity to create meaningful and positive change.

President Murmu reiterated that India’s technology philosophy places people at the centre of innovation.

She emphasised that technological progress must empower citizens, expand access, and promote inclusion, rather than deepen existing inequalities.

President Murmu urged stakeholders to deploy AI responsibly to bridge social, economic, and technological gaps. She emphasised that the benefits of artificial intelligence must reach citizens of all ages and backgrounds, particularly marginalised communities.

According to her, equitable access to AI-driven tools and education will determine whether technology becomes a unifying force or a divisive one.

Skill Challenge Signals Tech Push

Expressing satisfaction with student participation, the President noted that young learners are preparing themselves for a future defined by rapid technological change.

She encouraged them to apply their knowledge and skills in the service of society, use innovation to solve real-world problems, and uplift others through technology.

President Murmu also praised Members of Parliament who completed AI learning modules. She said their willingness to engage with emerging technologies demonstrates leadership through continuous learning and sets a strong example for the nation.

Highlighting AI’s economic potential, the President identified artificial intelligence as a critical growth engine for India. She said AI will significantly influence GDP growth, employment generation, and productivity over the next decade.

She underlined the importance of skills such as data science, AI engineering, and data analytics in building a robust national talent pool.

President Murmu added that the government is working closely with educational institutions, industry partners, and academia to ensure India not only adopts advanced technologies but also actively shapes their responsible use.

This approach, she said, aligns with the National Education Policy and the vision of building a knowledge-driven economy.

Calling for collective commitment, President Murmu urged all stakeholders to work together to build a developed, tech-enabled, and inclusive India.

President Droupadi Murmu concluded by virtually inaugurating the IGNOU Regional Centre and Skill Centre at Rairangpur in Odisha, reinforcing the government’s focus on decentralised skilling for an AI-driven future.
