Witness Irfan Pathan and Harbhajan Singh dancing to celebrate Afghanistan’s victory against Sri Lanka in the ICC Cricket world cup 2023 match

Irfan Pathan, a former all-round player for India, is still a huge admirer of his “Pathan brothers” in Afghanistan, who are currently enjoying their victory against Sri Lanka in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match in Pune on Monday. When Afghanistan managed to upset Pakistan earlier this month at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Pathan had danced with all-rounder Rashid Khan.

After Afghanistan defeated 1996 World Champions Sri Lanka by seven wickets on Monday, they recorded their third victory of the 2023 World Cup, causing Pathan to celebrate joyfully. In the host broadcaster Star Sports studio, Pathan invited former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh to partake in the happy dance as well. The footage of Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan dancing in celebration of Afghanistan’s victory quickly became popular on social media.

With almost four overs remaining, Hashmatullah Shahidi’s team, needing to win by chasing 242, easily achieved the goal with only three wickets lost. “I’m pleased with the team and proud of them. I’m pleased with how we did in each of the three departments. We gained a lot of confidence and trust from the last game that we can pursue any kind of aim. Following Afghanistan’s victory in the post-match presentation on Monday, Shahidi remarked, “It was a very professional performance from the bowlers today.”

We are given confidence by the hard work and dedication of the coaching and managing personnel. Particularly Jonathan (Trott), who is constantly upbeat. Before the Pakistan game, he said one thing to me that really altered the way I thought. I’m trying to lead from the front, as a captain you should do, and I’ll try to keep doing so for the remainder of the competition,” he continued.

Rashid Khan, who was playing in his 100th ODI for Afghanistan and the team was celebrating with a victory, received particular recognition from Afghanistan captain Shahidi.

“The greatest player in the world, and a unique player, is Rashid Khan. Rashid Khan is a highly vivacious individual who consistently infuses the team with energy. Shahidi praised Rashid Khan and stated, “I want to congratulate all the supporters from Afghanistan and especially want to thank the Indian fans for coming out and supporting us.”
