This was his seventh half-century in the Cricket World Cup this year. With five deliveries, five fours, and one six, Kohli scored 51 runs in the end.

After winning the toss, India captain Rohit Sharma decided to bat first against the Netherlands.

Table-setters India enters the final league match of the tournament in Bengaluru unaltered after winning all eight of their games.

The hosts, who were the first to secure a semi-final berth, will take on New Zealand on Wednesday at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

Excellent chance for us to meet every requirement. Very pleased with our performance in this tournament; it makes being captain easier,” Rohit said.

Netherlands made an early impression when they surprised South Africa, but with just two wins, they are still bottom of the table.
