For the England Test series, the Indian cricket team is currently dealing with an injury crisis. It was revealed that Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul would miss the second Test following their defeat in the first one. It’s also unclear when Mohammed Shami, who was injured and missed the first two Test matches, will be available.
A report during this period stated that Ravindra Jadeja might not be available for the third and fourth Tests, even though Mohammed Shami was out of the England series.
Virat Kohli received a few updates in the report as well. The star batter for the Indian cricket team had withdrawn from the opening two Test matches.
“Mr. Virat Kohli has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to be withdrawn from the first two Tests of the upcoming IDFC First Bank Test series against England, citing personal reasons,” the BCCI stated in a press release on January 22.
“Virat has communicated with Captain Rohit Sharma, the team management, and the selectors, emphasizing that although serving his country has always come first, there are personal matters that require his full attention.
“The BCCI respects his decision and the Board and team management has extended its support to the star batter and is confident in the abilities of the remaining squad members to step up and deliver commendable performances in the Test series.”The BCCI is requesting that during this time, the public and media respect Virat Kohli’s privacy and refrain from making assumptions about the nature of his personal motivations. Supporting the Indian cricket team as they take on the forthcoming obstacles in the Test series should continue to be the main priority.”
