Sanju Samson
Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson shares heartfelt gratitude on social media after being named in the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. His consistent performance as Rajasthan Royals’ skipper and batsman in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) has earned him this recognition, alongside Rishabh Pant, as the wicketkeeper-batsmen in the squad. Taking to Instagram, the Kerala-born cricketer posted in Malayalam, expressing, “Shirt stitched of sweat and hard work.”
Since his T20I debut in 2015, Samson’s international opportunities were limited due to strong competition and his own inconsistency. Despite modest T20I statistics, his IPL performance shines with 4,273 runs in 161 matches, boasting an average of 30.96 and a strike rate of 139.04, including three centuries and 24 fifties.
This IPL season has been particularly impressive for Samson. With Rajasthan Royals leading the charts and Samson displaying remarkable consistency, scoring 385 runs in 9 games at an average of 77.00 and a strike rate exceeding 161, he’s emerged as a standout performer. His competitors for the wicketkeeper-batsman slot, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, have also showcased strong performances in the IPL.
