India’s young batting sensation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, delivered a memorable performance in the U19 World Cup final, slamming a rapid century against England at the Harare Sports Club.
The teenager reached the three-figure mark in just 55 deliveries, producing one of the fastest hundreds ever seen in the competition.
With this effort, Suryavanshi climbed to second place on the list of quickest U19 World Cup centuries. He moved past Pakistan’s Qasim Akram, who had taken 63 balls to score a hundred in the 2022 edition.
Only Australia’s Will Malajczuk, who struck a 51-ball century against Japan in 2026, stands ahead.
The knock also made Suryavanshi the fastest Indian batter to score a century at a U19 World Cup. He bettered the earlier Indian benchmark set by Raj Angad Bawa, who had reached his ton in 69 balls in 2022.
The youngster, notably, became just the third Indian to score a century in a U19 World Cup final.
Suryavanshi’s innings was defined by fearless strokeplay. He smashed 15 sixes, setting a new record for the most maximums in a Youth ODI and U19 World Cup innings.
This feat surpassed his own previous tally of 14 sixes, achieved against the UAE U19 in Dubai last year. He continued to dominate, reaching 150 quicker than any player in U19 cricket history. His extraordinary innings of 175 off 80 balls finally ended in the 26th over.
The young batter played a central role in India’s commanding position, forging a 142-run partnership with skipper Ayush Mhatre, who scored 53. He later added 89 runs with Vedant Trivedi, ensuring India maintained strong momentum.
Suryavanshi has emerged as the top run-getter in the tournament, collecting 439 runs at an average of 62.71 and an impressive strike rate of 169.49.
Earlier this year, he also led India U19 to a dominant 3–0 Youth ODI series victory over South Africa, underlining his impact both as a batter and a leader.
