Prime Minister Modi had earlier congratulated the team via phone immediately after their victory, praising Rohit Sharma’s leadership, Virat Kohli’s crucial innings, and coach Rahul Dravid’s contributions.

India secured its second T20 World Cup title on Saturday in Barbados, marking their first ICC trophy win since 2013.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 proved historic on multiple fronts, featuring an epic final between two undefeated teams. India and South Africa both ended with eight match wins, setting a new tournament record.

India’s 176/7 in the final set a new benchmark for the highest score in a Men’s T20 World Cup final, surpassing Australia’s 173/2 in 2021 against New Zealand. Notably, Rohit Sharma, aged 37 years and 60 days, became the oldest captain to lead a team to T20 World Cup victory.
