Security Breach: Paris Olympic Games’ Police Plans Stolen from Train

On Monday evening, a bag containing a computer and two USB memory sticks, holding crucial security plans for the upcoming Paris Olympic Games, was reported stolen from a train at the Gare du Nord station, according to police sources on Tuesday.

The bag, belonging to an engineer from Paris City Hall, was placed in the luggage compartment above the engineer’s seat. Due to a train delay, the engineer opted to switch trains, only to realize the theft upon arrival.

The engineer emphasized the sensitivity of the stolen data, particularly concerning the municipal police’s strategies for securing the Olympics.

An investigation into the theft is currently underway by the regional transport police. Paris City Hall, reached for comment by AFP, was unable to provide an immediate response.

For the Paris Olympics commencing on July 26, approximately 2,000 municipal police officers are slated for deployment, alongside an estimated total of 35,000 security personnel expected to be on active duty each day.
