“Sapne Jaisa Hi Hai”: Rinku Singh’s Heartfelt Response To Ireland’s T20I Call-Up

Rinku Singh, a batter for the Kolkata Knight Riders, captivated every cricket fan in IPL 2023 with his thunderous hits. His years of perseverance were rewarded when he received his first call-up from India for the Asian Games, which will take place in China in September. The 25-year-old batter’s inclusion in India’s team, which will play Ireland in a T20I series in August, is the icing on the cake. Rinku described being selected for the national squad as a dream and described his emotional journey in detail.

“Sapne jaisa hi hai”(This feels like a dream). I don’t want to get up any time soon. It’s a fantastic feeling that I find difficult to put into words. I started from square one to get to this point. I’m an emotional person, and every time I chat to my parents, we end up crying,” Rinku stated.

Rinku Singh’s life changed after he defeated Gujarat Titans in the IPL final by smashing five straight sixes in the final five balls. Since accomplishing that amazing feat, Rinku’s popularity has multiplied many times over.

“I’ve worked with KKR for six years. I had my chances at first, but I didn’t take advantage of them. During my early years with the club, I have learned a lot. At the KKR school in Mumbai, Abhishek Nayar sir and I put a lot of effort into improving my batting. All of your effort is beginning to pay off, remarked Rinku.

“After consistently losing, no other club would have kept me, but the KKR team management and Abhishek sir saw something in me that even I couldn’t. I practised new shots and batted for five to six hours every day in the nets. I believe I developed into an all-around batsman during those three years. I performed well in the IPL, received praise, and now I’ve been rewarded with a call-up to India,” he continued.

With regard to the series versus Ireland, squad India will be captained by renowned pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who will be making his return to the Indian cricket squad following a protracted injury absence. The first episode of the series will air on August 18.
