A sensational century from Ryan Rickelton powered the Mumbai Indians (MI) to a commanding total of 243/5 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 41st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Wednesday.
After winning the toss at the Wankhede Stadium, MI skipper Hardik Pandya opted to bat first, a decision that paid immediate dividends.
Openers Will Jacks and Rickelton provided a blistering start, putting on 93 runs in just 43 balls. Will Jacks played an aggressive 46 off 22 deliveries. He struck three sixes and five fours before he got out.
Following Jacks’ departure, Rickelton continued to dominate the bowling attack. He added 17 runs in quick time with Suryakumar Yadav, who managed just 5 runs before being dismissed. At 110/2 in 8.3 overs, MI had a solid platform but needed to maintain momentum.
Rickelton found support in Naman Dhir, with the duo adding 55 runs for the third wicket in 31 balls. Dhir contributed 22 runs off 17 deliveries, including three boundaries, before falling.
The innings gathered further pace as Rickelton partnered with captain Hardik Pandya. The pair stitched together a rapid 56-run stand in 27 balls, pushing MI past the 200-run mark. Pandya played a quickfire innings of 31 off 15 balls, hitting two sixes and two fours.
Rickelton remained the standout performer, finishing unbeaten on 123 off 55 balls. His innings, laced with 10 fours and 8 sixes, showcased both power and composure, anchoring the team’s innings throughout.
The SRH bowling attack found it difficult to contain the onslaught. Prafull Hinge was the most successful bowler, claiming two wickets, while Eshan Malinga, Saqib Hussain, and Nitish Reddy chipped in with one wicket each.
With a daunting 244-run target set, SRH now face a steep challenge in their chase, as MI look to capitalise on Rickelton’s brilliance and secure a crucial victory.
