Australian cricket legend Ricky Ponting has expressed his belief that Rohit Sharma’s “laid-back” demeanor makes him the ideal captain to lead India to their third ODI World Cup title, particularly in front of their home crowd. Rohit Sharma took over the captaincy from Virat Kohli in both white-ball formats in December 2021. Ponting suggests that Rohit’s calm and composed character suits the role well, allowing Kohli to concentrate on his batting.

According to Ponting, Rohit’s personality and style of play make him well-suited to handling the pressure of leading the Indian cricket team. He notes that Rohit’s ability to stay composed, even in high-pressure situations, will be an asset in a tournament of such magnitude.
