Indian Premier League 2026 match number 50 between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) took place on Thursday at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to bowl first on a surface expected to assist both batters and fast bowlers.
RCB decided to continue with the same playing XI despite their previous defeat against the Gujarat Titans.
Speaking after the toss, Rajat Patidar said the wicket looked good and carried enough pace, even though it was not as quick as Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium pitch. He added that the team had used the break effectively with strong practice sessions and hoped to restrict LSG to a manageable total.
LSG entered the match with three changes after injuries ruled out Mohsin Khan, Josh Inglis and Avesh Khan.
Captain Rishabh Pant admitted the side had adjusted its batting order while stressing the importance of maintaining clarity within the squad. He described the pitch as a 180-190 run surface and better than several wickets used earlier this season.
RCB have enjoyed a strong campaign so far, winning six of their nine matches. Virat Kohli has remained in excellent form with the bat, while Devdutt Padikkal has provided valuable support in the middle order.
Bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood have consistently delivered breakthroughs, with spinners Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma also making key contributions.
LSG, meanwhile, remained at the bottom of the table with only two victories from nine matches. The side desperately needed a win to keep their play-off hopes alive.
Despite their struggles, Nicholas Pooran impressed with a blistering 63 off 21 balls against the Mumbai Indians, while Mitchell Marsh chipped in with 44 runs from 25 deliveries.
