Rajasthan Royals Opt To Bat Against Delhi Capitals In IPL 2026 Clash

Rajasthan Royals, the first-ever IPL champions, opted to bat after winning the toss against Delhi Capitals in Match 43 at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Friday.

Captain Riyan Parag mentioned that the pitch did not appear typical for Jaipur, describing it as slightly uneven. This observation led the team management to prefer setting a total rather than chasing.

The Royals introduced a few changes to their side for this encounter.

Spinner Ravi Bishnoi was included in the playing XI, while Dasun Shanaka was listed as an impact substitute. Shubham Dubey continued in the starting combination.

Riyan Parag said reading the pitch conditions correctly would be crucial. He noted that the surface is likely to behave differently as the match progresses.

Delhi Capitals skipper Axar Patel confirmed several alterations in his squad, including the return of Mitchell Starc and the addition of Pathum Nissanka.

Injuries and tactical decisions ruled out Dushmantha Chameera and Sahil, while the team management excluded David Miller to balance the overseas combination. The selectors included Ashutosh Sharma to complete the XI.

Axar stated that he might have preferred to field first, citing a previous high-scoring chase at the same venue.

Nevertheless, he expressed belief in his bowling unit’s ability to contain the opposition.

With Delhi Capitals seeking to improve their performance in the tournament, Axar emphasised the importance of focusing on fundamentals.

He highlighted the need for maintaining intensity, staying composed, and repeating positive performances.

Delhi Capitals: KL Rahul (wk), Pathum Nissanka, Sameer Rizvi, Tristan Stubbs, Nitish Rana, Axar Patel (c), Ashutosh Sharma, Kyle Jamieson, Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, T Natarajan

Rajasthan Royals: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Riyan Parag (c), Donovan Ferreira, Ravindra Jadeja, Shubham Dubey, Jofra Archer, Nandre Burger, Brijesh Sharma, Ravi Bishnoi

Both teams have reshuffled their line-ups, and pitch conditions add uncertainty. These factors will likely make the match closely contested.

Rajasthan Royals will look to justify their decision to bat first. Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, will aim to strike early and shift momentum in their favour.
