Rajasthan Royals Chase 223 To Beat Punjab Kings By 6 Wickets In IPL 2026

In the 40th match of IPL 2026, Rajasthan Royals (RR) registered an emphatic six-wicket victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Tuesday.

Chasing a formidable target of 223 at the Maharaja Yadavendra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh, RR completed the chase in 19.2 overs with four wickets in hand, securing their sixth win of the season.

RR began their chase in commanding fashion, with openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal putting together a rapid 51-run partnership in just 3.2 overs. Suryavanshi’s aggressive knock of 43 off 16 balls, including five sixes and three fours, provided early momentum.

Despite a brief slowdown with Dhruv Jurel departing for 16, RR maintained control. Captain Riyan Parag scored a brisk 29 off 16 balls before falling to Yuzvendra Chahal.

Jaiswal continued his impressive form, scoring 51 off 27 deliveries, laced with seven boundaries and a six.

The match was effectively sealed by a crucial unbeaten partnership between Shubham Dubey and Donovan Ferreira. The duo added 71 runs off just 31 balls for the fifth wicket.

Donovan Ferreira starred with an unbeaten 52 off 26 balls. Shivam Dubey contributed a quickfire 31 off 12 deliveries. They guided the Rajasthan Royals to a comfortable win.

For PBKS, Chahal was the standout bowler with figures of 3 for 36, while Arshdeep Singh picked up one wicket.

Earlier, Punjab Kings posted an imposing 222 for 4 in their 20 overs. Prabhsimran Singh led the charge with 59 off 44 balls. Priyansh Arya (29 off 11) and Cooper Connolly (30 off 14) provided valuable contributions.

Captain Shreyas Iyer added 30 runs but failed to convert his start into a big score. Marcus Stoinis delivered a late onslaught, smashing 62 off just 22 balls at a remarkable strike rate of 281, including six sixes.

For RR, Yash Raj Punj claimed two wickets, while Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger took one each. Despite posting a massive total, PBKS suffered their first defeat of the IPL 2026 season in a match dominated by aggressive batting.
