The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared on Wednesday that Rahul Dravid and his team members’ contracts have been extended, dispelling any lingering questions regarding the head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team and their support staff.
The board has decided to extend the contracts of India’s coaching staff, which included head coach Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhmabrey, and fielding coach T Dilip. The ODI World Cup concluded recently. The main explanation for this is thought to be the strong showing that India, under their leadership, had at the World Cup.
They lost to Australia in the tournament final, so they did not win the championship, but they did win ten of the eleven games they played in a way that had never been seen by any Indian team before.
Following the conclusion of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, “the BCCI engaged in productive discussions with Dravid and unanimously agreed to further the tenure,” the BCCI said in a release.
The duration of the extension granted to Dravid and his support staff was not specified, but it is likely to last until the West Indies and USA T20 World Cup in June of the following year.
In Dravid’s tenure, the only multi-nation trophy India won was the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka in 2023.
