The rights to host the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 have been granted to the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF), with all games taking place in the city of Doha.
The bid impressed FIBA’s Central Board, especially with its compact geographical nature, unique flexibility with tournament venue scheduling to better serve fans, and emphasis on sustainability when making their decision.
Doha, Qatar’s capital, is one of the world’s best-connected destinations. It has direct flights from most of the countries that could participate, and the recently upgraded subway and public transportation network connects all venues, providing first-rate service to all visitors.
Because all of the teams play in the same city, fans can plan everything out well in advance and have a one-of-a-kind experience because all of the venues are within 30 minutes of each other. In addition, the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 will be a carbon-neutral event thanks to the widespread use of green technologies and the already constructed venues for the men’s event.
As the first time FIBA’s flagship event will be held in this region, the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 will bring millions of people from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions together to play basketball. This will help boost basketball’s popularity even more.
Hamane Niang, FIBA President, said: ” The QBF’s presentation impressed the Central Board. On behalf of the Board, I’d like to congratulate them on the high quality of the work they’ve already done on this bid. We are exceptionally glad to have the option to grant the FIBA Ball World Cup 2027 to Qatar.
“While we are anticipating what we realize will be another champion FIBA occasion when the activity begins in Qatar, we will likewise partake in the full excursion to Doha.” “Since its introduction in 2017, the World Cup qualification route has been extremely successful, and we will be prepared once more to follow every action.”
“Furthermore, to have each of the 32 partaking groups situated in one city for the FIBA B-ball World Cup 2027 will introduce a special chance for fans to redo their Reality Cup insight by getting to additional games face-to-face than in some other FIBA World Cup throughout the course of recent years. I accept that 2027 will be an exceptional involvement with Doha for this lead FIBA occasion.”
