Proud Indian Daughters : Women Hockey Team Returns to India, Celebrates FIH Nations Cup Victory

FIH Nations Cup: The fever of the FIFA World Cup has engulfed the whole world. This time there was an amazing craze among the fans regarding the Football World Cup .Following Argentina’s victory, but this time it overshadows the FIH Hockey Match. This is a massively proud moment for our women’s hockey team, who made the entire country proud by returning to the country on Monday dancing after winning the FIH Hockey Nations Cup in Spain.

The Indian women’s hockey team, led by Captain Savita Punia, won the inaugural FIH Nations Cup in Valencia, Spain, defeating Spain 1-0 in the final. Gurjit Kaur of India scored the game-winning goal. The first FIH Nations Cup was held in Valencia, Spain, from December 11 to 17, 2022. India and Spain competed in the FIH women’s hockey Pro League 2021-22 season as replacement teams after Australia and New Zealand withdrew due to COVID-19 issues.

The result also means that the team coached by Janneke Schopman has been promoted to the FIH Pro League 2023-24. Hockey India has set a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh for each member of the squad and Rs 1 lakh for each support staff member. India finished the tournament undefeated, having won all five matches. The Indian team defeated Chile (3-1), Japan (2-1), and South Africa (2-0) in the group stage before defeating Ireland 2-1 in a penalty shootout in the semifinal.

FIH Nations Cup: This Special Achievement In The Name Of Deepika

The day of FIFA World Cup final was also special for India. The presence of Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone during the match between Argentina and France at the Luas Stadium in Qatar made it historic. The ‘Pathan’ actress made this achievement her name as she unveiled the FIFA World Cup 2022 trophy. Deepika Padukone has become the first Indian to reveal the FIFA trophy. This moment became special for the whole of India including Deepika. Deepika Padukone arrived with Spanish footballer Iker Casillas Fernandez during the trophy unveiling. This moment was also full of excitement.
