PGTI Players Championship 2025 To Tee Off With Rs 1 Crore Prize Purse At Tollygunge Club

The stage is set for the highly anticipated 2025 PGTI Players Championship, which will kick off at the historic Tollygunge Club in Kolkata from February 11 to 14. With a substantial prize purse of Rs 1 crore, this tournament marks the beginning of the 2025 season for the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI). A Pro-Am event will follow on February 15.

The championship will feature a competitive field of 124 players, including 121 professionals and three amateurs. Among the notable participants are top Indian golfers SSP Chawrasia and Rahil Gangjee, both hailing from Kolkata, along with other prominent names like Rashid Khan, Chikkarangappa, Yuvraj Sandhu, Karandeep Kochhar, defending champion Manu Gandas, Om Prakash Chouhan, and Udayan Mane.

International players will also compete, with participants from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Italy, the Czech Republic, the United States, and Nepal. The foreign contingent includes Jamal Hossain, Badal Hossain, Md Jakiruzzaman Jakir, Md Somrat Sikdar, Md Muaj, Md Razu, Md Solayeman, and Md Sajib Ali from Bangladesh; N Thangaraja and K Prabagaran from Sri Lanka; Italians Michele Ortolani and Federico Zucchetti; Czech Republic’s Stepan Danek; Americans Koichiro Sato and Dominic Piccirillo; and Nepal’s Subash Tamang.

The Kolkata-based players are also well-represented, with local professionals such as Shankar Das, Mohammad Sanju, Divyanshu Bajaj, Indrajit Bhalotia, Feroz Ali Mollah, and Karan Verma joining Chawrasia in the field. Additionally, three local amateurs – Varish Mohta, Suveer Kapoor, and Anshul Mishra – will also compete.

Harmander Bindra, Golf Captain at Tollygunge Club, expressed pride in hosting the event, stating, “We at Tollygunge Club are excited to once again present the prestigious PGTI Players Championship. As the season opener, this tournament serves as a platform where experienced professionals, emerging talents, and ambitious rookies can showcase their skills. Under Kapil Dev’s leadership, the PGTI continues to play a key role in the growth of golf in India, creating opportunities for players and those involved in the sport.”

He further emphasized the high-quality playing conditions at Tollygunge Club, saying, “This year, we are committed to providing the best possible conditions with true-rolling greens and well-maintained fairways. We look forward to a week filled with intense competition, exceptional skill displays, and camaraderie.”
