PBKS Beat SRH By 6 Wickets: Shreyas Iyer’s Unbeaten 69 Seals 220 Chase

Punjab Kings secured an impressive six-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in their IPL 2026 fixture at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.

Captain Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 69 and guided his side to overhaul the 220-run target in 18.5 overs.

The result ensured Punjab continued their unbeaten streak this season, moving to seven points from four matches, with one earlier game ending without a result.

Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh launched the chase with attacking intent, putting immediate pressure on the opposition bowlers.

Arya led the charge during the power play and raced to his half-century in only 16 deliveries. He scored a brisk 57 from 20 balls, while Prabhsimran added a well-compiled 51 off 24 balls, enabling Punjab to reach 93 without loss in the opening phase. Even after losing both batters, the momentum firmly stayed with Punjab.

Shreyas Iyer took control of the innings alongside Nehal Wadhera, ensuring the required run rate remained under control. The pair rotated the strike effectively and punished loose deliveries.

Iyer accelerated in the later stages and completed his fifty in 24 balls, maintaining composure to finish the chase. Shashank Singh provided steady support as Punjab crossed the line with ease.

Sunrisers Hyderabad relied on Shivang Kumar, who delivered an effective spell and picked up three wickets, while Harsh Dubey contributed with one dismissal. Their efforts proved insufficient against Punjab’s strong batting display.

Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad produced a powerful batting performance, led by Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, who built a substantial opening partnership. Sharma compiled a rapid 78, while Head chipped in with 38.

Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen added stability, though the scoring pace slowed towards the end. Klaasen scored 39 as the side finished on 219/6.

Despite setting a challenging total, Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to defend it against a confident Punjab side. With a combination of aggressive batting and composed finishing, Punjab Kings continued their strong run in the tournament.
