Pak Ex-Player Salman Butt: Apart From These Cricketers, India’s Batting Is Weak For Asia Cup 2023

For Asia Cup 2023: Salman Butt, a former captain of Pakistan, noted that aside from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, India’s batting line-up is quite “brittle,” and if they were to lose these two batters early in the game, they would be under extreme strain.

“Apart from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, they have youngsters, who have played plenty of cricket but they don’t have that much experience,” Butt said on his YouTube channel.

“India has won matches only when Rohit Sharma has played well…” expressed by the player

“India has won matches only when Rohit Sharma has played well or Virat Kohli has done something spectacular. When the onus is on others they have mostly struggled.”

Pak team has bigger core for Asia Cup 2023

Butt said that because Babar Azam’s team has a bigger core than India’s does, they will have the advantage. “Pakistan have Babar, Rizwan, Fakhar, Shadab, Shaheen, Haris Rauf. And in my opinion, Pakistan has a much larger core group,” he said.

“India too have match-winners like Jadeja, Shami, Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli. But their batting is weak, if Pakistan picks the two big wickets then the others will have a lot to prove. They have not helped India win matches against Pakistan or in their own.” In a jab at the Indian Premier League (IPL), Butt stated that the Indian team will be under a lot of strain given the high level of expectations.

Pressure on India is more

He said, “There are plenty of expectations from India, hence the pressure is more… and since India have not played against Pakistan for a long time for whatever reasons, their players no matter how much IPL they’ve played, they don’t have the experience of playing in such high-voltage clash.”
