In a recent interview, Messi discussed his career and expressed his happiness at retiring as “the champion of everything.”

In an interview with Adidas Football, Messi stated, “Now that my career is almost over, to conclude in this fashion as a champion of everything is something I’m enjoying enormously.

“I discovered that it’s not just about winning; the journey itself teaches important life lessons, and I think it’s essential to have the will to succeed and the willingness to strive, especially when things may or may not pan out. Keep striving towards your goals.

Lionel Messi talks about his journey with Barcelona

At the age of 16, Lionel Messi made his senior club debut for Barcelona on November 16, 2003, to begin his professional club career. He continued on to make 778 appearances over the course of 17 seasons, scoring 672 goals and contributing 303 assists.

For the Blaugrana, the 35-year-old won 35 significant medals, including 10 La Liga championships and four UEFA Champions League trophies.

Lionel Messi then joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2021 and plied his trade in the French capital for two seasons. The Argentine superstar won three trophies, including two Ligue 1 titles with the Parisian side.

Messi has also tasted success on the international stage. He won the FIFA World Youth Championship in 2005 for the Argentina U20 and the 2008 Summer Olympics for the U23 side.
