PM Modi & Leaders Pay Tribute To Constitution Framers; Highlights Citizens’ Duties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked Constitution Day on Tuesday by paying heartfelt tribute to the architects of the Indian Constitution and emphasising their enduring vision for India’s future.

Celebrated each year on 26 November, Constitution Day — or Samvidhan Divas — commemorates the historic adoption of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.

The observance was formally designated in 2015 to honour the foundational principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.

In a message shared on X, PM Modi expressed deep gratitude to the Constitution’s framers and reiterated their pivotal role in shaping modern India.

“On Constitution Day, we pay tribute to the framers of our Constitution. Their vision and foresight continue to motivate us in our pursuit of building a Viksit Bharat,” he wrote, underscoring his vision of a developed and progressive nation.

Rights and Duties: Pillars of a Strong Democracy

PM Modi highlighted that the Indian Constitution stands firmly on the recognition of human dignity, equality, and liberty.

While it guarantees essential rights to every citizen, it simultaneously places equal emphasis on duties.

“While it empowers us with rights, it also reminds us of our duties as citizens, which we should always try to fulfil. These duties are the foundation of a strong democracy,” the Prime Minister stated.

He urged Indians to reaffirm their commitment to strengthening Constitutional values through responsible actions in daily life.

Tributes from Union Ministers

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended greetings on the occasion, paying homage to the key figures behind the Constitution, including Dr BR Ambedkar and Dr Rajendra Prasad.

In his post on X, Shah said, “On this Constitution Day, I pay homage to Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Ji, Dr Rajendra Prasad Ji, along with all the great members of the Constituent Assembly, and extend my heartfelt greetings to the fellow citizens on this day.”

Shah emphasised that the Indian Constitution offers every citizen equal opportunities, dignity, and rights, paving the path for robust nation-building.

He further acknowledged PM Modi’s efforts in popularising Constitution Day and making citizens more aware of democratic principles.

Call to Uphold Constitutional Spirit

Union Health Minister JP Nadda also shared his tribute, describing the Constitution as ‘the soul of India and the strength of its democracy’.

He praised Dr Ambedkar’s leadership in drafting a document that not only protects individual rights but also empowers citizens to progress.

Nadda appealed to citizens to uphold the dignity of the Constitution and uphold its core values.

“On this sacred occasion of Constitution Day, let us resolve to uphold the dignity of the Constitution, adhere to its core spirit, and build a strong, prosperous, and self-reliant India,” he said.

As India reflects on the significance of Constitution Day, leaders across the nation reiterated the importance of collective responsibility in upholding democratic values.

PM Modi’s message served as a reminder that the Constitution not only shapes national governance but also guides citizens towards building a stronger, more unified India rooted in its foundational ideals.
