Mumbai Indians Defeat Punjab Kings By Six Wickets As Tilak Varma Stars In Dharamshala

Mumbai Indians registered a six-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in an exciting match of the Indian Premier League 2026 in Dharamshala. Tilak Varma played a decisive, unbeaten innings to guide his side home.

Punjab Kings recorded their fifth straight defeat of the season despite posting a strong total. They continue to hold the fourth position in the points table with 13 points.

Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, secured their fourth win in 12 matches. They, however, remain out of contention for the playoffs.

Batting first at the HPCA Stadium, the Punjab Kings scored 200/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh gave the team a solid start by adding 50 runs for the opening wicket.

Arya scored 22 runs before getting out. Prabhsimran Singh then built a crucial partnership with Cooper Connolly, taking the score past the 100-run mark.

Prabhsimran contributed a well-made 57 runs off 32 balls, hitting multiple boundaries and sixes. After his dismissal, Punjab’s batting line-up collapsed, losing wickets rapidly and slipping to 140/7.

Azmatullah Omarzai counterattacked with a quick 38 runs, adding crucial late momentum. Vishnu Vinod chipped in with 15 runs, while Xavier Bartlett remained unbeaten on 18 to push the total to 200.

For the Mumbai Indians, Shardul Thakur impressed with four wickets. Deepak Chahar took two wickets, while Corbin Bosch and Raj Bawa claimed one each.

In response, the Mumbai Indians chased down the target in 19.5 overs. Openers Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma provided a strong foundation with a 61-run stand. Rickelton scored a brisk 48 runs.

Mumbai lost quick wickets, including Naman Dhir and Rohit Sharma, leaving the team at 88/3.

Tilak Varma steadied the innings and added 61 runs with Sherfane Rutherford. After Rutherford’s dismissal, Tilak formed an unbeaten partnership with Will Jacks to seal the victory.

Jacks remained not out on 25 runs. Tilak Varma finished unbeaten on 75 off 33 balls, striking six sixes and six fours.

For Punjab Kings, Azmatullah Omarzai took two wickets, while Marco Jansen and Yuzvendra Chahal picked up one each.
