Mbappe Wins Second Golden Boot As Rodri, Cubarsi And Simon Claim Top FIFA World Cup 2026 Awards

France captain Kylian Mbappe finished as the leading scorer at the FIFA World Cup 2026, becoming the first player to win the Golden Boot in two consecutive editions after also topping the scoring charts in Qatar 2022.

The 27-year-old scored 10 goals during the tournament, including a brace against England in France’s 6-4 defeat in the third-place play-off.

Mbappe also became the first player since Gerd Muller in 1970 to score 10 goals in a single World Cup.

Only France’s Just Fontaine (13 in 1958) and Hungary’s Sandor Kocsis (11 in 1954) have recorded more goals in one tournament.

Lionel Messi finished second with eight goals, while Jude Bellingham claimed third place with seven.

Spain midfielder Rodri received the Golden Ball after playing a pivotal role in his country’s World Cup-winning campaign.

The midfielder featured in all eight matches and controlled games with his passing, defensive awareness and composure as Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the final.

Rodri completed 101 of his 105 passes in the final, won 80 per cent of his duels and created two chances.

The award added another prestigious honour to his career after previously winning the Ballon d’Or and the UEFA European Championship Player of the Tournament prize.

Spain defender Pau Cubarsi claimed the Young Player Award after producing a series of assured displays throughout the competition.

The 19-year-old started every match, helped Spain register seven clean sheets and became the first defender to receive the honour.

Goalkeeper Unai Simon collected the Golden Glove after keeping a record seven clean sheets during the tournament.

Spain conceded only one goal in eight matches, making Simon just the second Spanish goalkeeper after Iker Casillas to win the award.
