Lionel Messi Touches Down In Mumbai For Third Leg Of GOAT Tour

Argentine football legend Lionel Messi reached Mumbai on Sunday afternoon for the third pit stop of his GOAT Tour. He is slated to attend the Padel GOAT Cup at the Cricket Club of India. He will then move to Wankhede Stadium in the evening.

Earlier, Messi visited Kolkata and Hyderabad on Saturday as part of the ongoing tour. After completing the Mumbai leg, he will travel to New Delhi to conclude the tour and his visit.

Messi is expected to join cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar at the Cricket Club of India for a special event in the evening.

Other stars, including Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, are anticipated to attend the gathering. The programme will continue at Wankhede Stadium with an exhibition football match featuring Bollywood celebrities, scheduled for around 5:00 PM.

GOAT Tour Activities and Initiatives

Following the match, Messi will participate in a private fashion show where he plans to auction memorabilia from his Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup win. Additionally, he will engage in the ‘GOAT Football Clinic,’ an initiative by the Maharashtra government, offering tips and guidance to young aspiring footballers.

Authorities have implemented extensive security measures across Mumbai after crowd management challenges during the Kolkata leg. Thousands of fans are expected to attend the events, prompting careful planning by the Mumbai Police to ensure safety and smooth conduct.

Messi’s GOAT Tour began with crowd chaos in Kolkata, where organisers struggled to manage thousands of fans. The football legend, accompanied by Luis Suarez and Rodrigo de Paul, faced fan frustration despite efforts to control the turnout.

Subsequently, Messi arrived in Hyderabad, interacting with fans through several photo opportunities. He was seen kicking the ball with children and casually engaging with officials, providing memorable experiences for local supporters.

At Uppal Stadium, Messi remained largely in a VIP box but made brief appearances on the stadium’s big screen and broadcast visuals. His presence added glamour to the match while maintaining a controlled environment for security purposes.

Messi’s Mumbai activities highlight both fan engagement and charitable initiatives. The combination of exhibition matches, memorabilia auctions, and football clinics showcases the tour’s focus on promoting football and inspiring youth. It also offers unique experiences to fans.

His journey will conclude in New Delhi, marking the end of a high-profile and widely followed Indian tour.

Fans across the country continue to follow Messi’s visit with excitement, blending sport, celebrity culture, and community outreach into a memorable celebration of football.
