Jasprit Bumrah reveals inspiration for ‘temple point’ celebration in IND vs PAK match

The right-arm fast is presently tied with the New Zealand duo of Mitch Santner and Matt Henry for the most wickets in the competition.

Bumrah has had numerous chances to use a new celebration known as the “temple point,” which has been compared to one used by Marcus Rashford of Manchester United and England.

The Indian star has shown an interest in the English Premier League team in the past.

Bumrah said of the celebration after India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets, “I had no intentions of making it viral or spreading it everywhere.”

“I just had the thought. Rashford had also done it in my eyes.

“I found it to be cool. There isn’t really a compelling backstory behind it. In the end, I chose to proceed.

“Normally, I’m too exhausted to rejoice. But in that particular instance, I did rejoice.

After dismissing tournament opener Ibrahim Zadran in the second of those two games, Bumrah, who had begun the tournament with six wickets against Australia and Afghanistan, began the now-iconic celebration.

When India faced Pakistan, the 29-year-old was again essential to their attack, initially taking the ball and containing the team’s openers, Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique.

When their arch-rivals were on the verge of victory, Bumrah came back and took two crucial wickets—Mohammad Rizwan and Shadab Khan—with a pair of scorching pitches, finishing with 2/19 and winning player of the match honors.

India is aiming to win the trophy for the first time since 2011 after winning their first three matches of the Cricket World Cup convincingly.

“The momentum is not in our minds. The team is currently considering recovery, according to Bumrah.

“Our preparation was strong, so even though we played three games straight, the outcome was positive.

“There’s a good sense of teamwork. People seem to be at ease. They want to carry out their plan and enjoy themselves with one another. Right now, it’s a nice place to be.
