Its Not Dhoni! This Player Is Original ‘Captain Cool’, Says Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar, the Former Indian Cricket Team Captain always put forward his views regarding the current scenario of Indian Cricket. Recently in an interview, Sunil Gavaskar stated that Kapil Dev former Indian cricket team player is the original ‘Captain Cool’. He shared how Kapil’s all-rounder performance in the 1983 World Cup took them to the trophy.

Well, MS Dhoni popularly known as ‘Captain Cool’ has the title for his immensely calm attitude on the ground. In addition to this, he is praised for his fantastic captaincy that brought India victory in the Championships of all three formats of crickets.

Sunil Gavaskar praises Kapil Dev as Captain Cool

Sunil Gavaskar praised Kapil Dev and his outstanding performance on field as he calls Mr. Dev original ‘Captain Cool’. He said, “Kapil’s performances with both bat and ball were dazzling to say the least. Not to forget his catch of Viv Richards in the final. His captaincy was dynamic, exactly what the format required, and his ready smile even when a player dropped a catch or mis-fielded makes him the original captain cool.”

The grand 1983 World Cup

India was the underdog entering the 1983 World Cup, but they ended up winning it after defeating West Indies, the defending champions, in the championship match. Kapil Dev excelled at both the bat and the ball, and his catch to remove Viv Richards from the game will be written in the books of cricket history.

He joked about how every single team member could not stop smiling as they won the match. The former captain said that it would have made a great advertisement of Colgate toothpaste. He expressed, “It’s hard to put in words what those moments after the win felt like. It would have made a great advert for toothpaste as everybody around us were laughing and smiling and to see that was simply heart-lifting,” he added.
