IPL 2026: RR vs RCB Match Delayed Due To Rain At Barsapara Stadium

The 16th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 between Rajasthan Royals and defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru was delayed due to rain at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Although pre-match forecasts had indicated improved conditions, a light drizzle intensified, forcing on-field umpires to call for covers. Initially, only the square boundaries were protected, but as the rain grew heavier, the entire ground was covered.

Despite the interruption, there is optimism for a timely start once conditions improve.

The stadium’s efficient drainage system is expected to allow play to resume within 30 to 45 minutes after the rain stops, raising hopes among spectators for a full contest.

Rajasthan Royals have been in dominant form, topping the standings with three consecutive wins against Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Mumbai Indians.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru, meanwhile, enter the match on the back of successive victories over Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai.

Both teams feature strong batting line-ups, though Rajasthan appear more balanced with the ball under the leadership of Riyan Parag. Bengaluru’s pace attack is led by Jacob Duffy and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, while Rajasthan relies on Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger.

Rising star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has emerged as one of the standout performers this season with his fearless batting. His recent half-century against Chennai included aggressive strokes against Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult.

Devdutt Padikkal has evolved into a key T20 batter at No 3. He combines consistency with a strike rate exceeding 200. He has also improved his play against short-pitched deliveries.
