IPL 2026: Punjab Kings Limit Gujarat Titans To 162/6 As Vyshak Claims Three Wickets

Punjab Kings executed a controlled bowling strategy to restrict the Gujarat Titans to 162/6 in their 20 overs at the New International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.

After being asked to bat first, the Gujarat Titans got off to a smooth start. Captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan played with intent during the opening overs. The pair added runs quickly, taking the total to 35 without loss by the third over.

Punjab Kings struck in the fourth over when Marco Jansen removed Sudharsan with a short delivery. The opener scored 13 runs from 11 balls before departing.

Gill continued to anchor the innings alongside Jos Buttler, who focused on rotating the strike. The team reached 54/1 at the end of the Power-play phase.

Following the fielding restrictions, Gill slowed the tempo while ensuring steady progress. His innings came to an end in the 10th over when Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed him.

Cooper Connolly completed the catch at mid-wicket after he had scored 39 off 27 deliveries.

Glenn Phillips increased the scoring rate in the 12th over with a boundary and a six. He was dismissed in the 14th over by Vijaykumar Vyshak, caught at long-off by Jansen after making 25 from 17 balls.

Jos Buttler held the innings together with a steady knock. He was dismissed in the 16th over by Yuzvendra Chahal after scoring 38 runs off 33 balls, including three fours and two sixes.

Washington Sundar struggled to accelerate and was eventually dismissed for 18 in the penultimate over.

Vijaykumar Vyshak emerged as the standout performer with the ball, finishing with figures of 3/34 in his four overs. Chahal supported effectively with two key wickets, ensuring the Gujarat Titans were kept within reach.
