IPL 2026 Final: Parthiv Patel Confident Of GT’s Ahmedabad Edge

Gujarat Titans assistant coach Parthiv Patel has backed his side to make the most of its knowledge of conditions at the Narendra Modi Stadium when it faces Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2026 final.

Patel stated that regular exposure to the Ahmedabad venue gives Gujarat a clearer understanding of how the surface behaves.

While acknowledging the pressure associated with a final, Parthiv Patel said the team intends to use that familiarity to its advantage and establish control early in the match.

The Titans arrived in Ahmedabad later than planned after poor weather disrupted their journey from Chandigarh.

Patel, however, dismissed concerns that the delay could affect the team’s performance. He said the players remain fully focused on the final and view the occasion as a rare opportunity to leave a lasting mark.

According to Patel, the excitement of competing for the IPL trophy outweighs any physical fatigue caused by travel complications.

Patel credited Gujarat’s successful campaign to the collective efforts of the batting unit. He highlighted the contributions of captain Shubman Gill and opener B Sai Sudharsan.

According to Patel, the pair has provided a strong foundation throughout the season, while several middle-order and lower-order players have delivered important contributions when required.

Patel added that the squad’s ability to respond in different situations has strengthened the team’s confidence heading into the final.

The championship match will take place on the same pitch where Gujarat defeated Bengaluru during the league stage, but Patel said past results would have little influence on the final. He stressed that success would depend on how effectively players implement their plans under pressure.

Nevertheless, Parthiv Patel acknowledged that understanding local conditions could help Gujarat make quicker tactical decisions during the contest.

Patel also recognised the efforts of the franchise’s support staff. He described them as a vital part of the team’s success this season.

According to Patel, the coaching and support personnel have created a positive environment for players. They have also consistently provided guidance during difficult moments.

Their contribution, Patel added, has helped the squad remain calm and competitive throughout the campaign.
