Harry Brook
Harry Brook finally lit up the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 with a blistering century for SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), despite not scoring much in his first three games. In his 55-ball 100, Brook spoiled KKR’s party by hitting 12 fours and three sixes, propelling SRH to 228/4. Brook said that “this knock is definitely up there” with my other top performances and that it was “a special night.” Brook was seen enjoying some of the local delicacies after SRH’s 23-run victory over KKR at the Eden Gardens.
Brook was seen eating “rasgulla” with his face covered in cake in a video that SRH shared. Have a look at it:
Strong hitting by Hyderabad captain Aiden Markram (50) and opener Abhishek Sharma (32), who combined with Brook for two crucial half-centuries partnerships, provided support for the English opener.
The best Kolkata bowler was West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell, who took 3-22 before leaving the field due to an injury concern at the beginning of his third over.
Varun Chakravarthy, a mystery spinner, took Hyderabad’s only other wicket, and New Zealand’s Lockie Ferguson, the most expensive Kolkata bowler, gave up 37 runs in two overs.
Kolkata made the absolute worst start after Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz tumbled to India veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a duck in the first over of the chase.
Before opener Narayan Jagadeesan (36) stabilized the innings, South African Marco Jansen bowled out Venkatesh Iyer (10) and Sunil Narine (0).
In a spirited batting display with new Kolkata hero Rinku Singh, Rana scored 75 off 41 balls before losing to T Natarajan.
Singh hit an unbeaten 31-ball 58 with four fours and four sixes to help Kolkata stun champion Gujarat Titans in an IPL thriller on Sunday. He hit five sixes off the final five balls.
Kumar, Jansen, Natarajan, and Umran Malik of Hyderabad’s pace attack each took five wickets, while Mayank Markande of Hyderabad’s spin attack took 2-27.
