India Clinches Test Series 2-0 As Jaiswal’s 51 Leads Chase Against Bangladesh In Kanpur

India secured a 2-0 series victory over Bangladesh, defeating them by seven wickets on the fifth day at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur. Yashasvi Jaiswal starred with a 51-run knock in the modest chase of 95, sealing the win despite two rain-affected days.

India began the chase aggressively, with Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma starting confidently. Rohit, however, was dismissed early for 8, caught at deep square leg attempting a slog sweep. Jaiswal continued to play attacking cricket, even as Shubman Gill was dismissed for 6 by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Virat Kohli then joined Jaiswal, contributing with his calm and fluent strokeplay.

Jaiswal’s Aggression Leads India

Jaiswal reached his half-century off 43 balls, his seventh in Test cricket. He added 58 runs with Kohli for the third wicket before being dismissed for 51, caught while attempting to slog-sweep Taijul Islam. Rishabh Pant sealed the win with a boundary to complete India’s chase of 95.

Earlier, India dominated with the bat after Bangladesh was bowled out for 233 in their first innings. Jaiswal and KL Rahul scored quick half-centuries as India declared at 285/9 in just 34.4 overs, setting a 55-run lead.

India’s Bowlers Crush Bangladesh’s Resistance

On Day 5, Bangladesh, starting at 36/2, collapsed quickly. Mominul Haque’s dismissal triggered a collapse as Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Jasprit Bumrah took control. Despite Shadman Islam’s half-century, Bangladesh was bowled out for 146. Bumrah and Jadeja each took three wickets to ensure a comfortable win.

Brief scores: Bangladesh 233 & 146 all out (Shadman Islam 50, Mushfiqur Rahim 37; Jasprit Bumrah 3-17, Ravindra Jadeja 3-34) lost to India 285/9 decl. & 98/3 (Yashasvi Jaiswal 51, Virat Kohli 29; Mehidy Hasan 2-44) by seven wickets.
