India Build Up 2027 World Cup Preparation As Rohit, Kohli And Bumrah Return For England ODI Series

India will kick off their preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup when they face England in the opening match of the three-match series at Edgbaston on Tuesday.

The visitors will look to bounce back from a disappointing T20I campaign with the return of experienced campaigners Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah.

Rohit Sharma is set to open the innings with Shubman Gill as India reunites one of its most successful ODI opening pairs.

Virat Kohli returns to ODI cricket with several milestones within reach. He will play his 300th ODI innings if selected and needs 203 more runs to become only the third batter to score 15,000 ODI runs.

Shreyas Iyer will strengthen India’s middle order at No 4, while KL Rahul will bat at No 5 and keep wickets, adding balance and experience to the batting line-up.

India has received a major lift with Jasprit Bumrah returning to the ODI side for the first time since the 2023 World Cup. He will likely lead the pace attack alongside Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar, while Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar will spearhead the spin department.

Kuldeep also stands six wickets away from becoming only the fourth Indian spinner to claim 200 ODI wickets.

England have confirmed their playing XI, with Jacob Bethell set to open the innings alongside Ben Duckett, while captain Harry Brook will bat at No 4.

The hosts have opted for a spin-heavy attack featuring Adil Rashid, Liam Dawson and Will Jacks, while Jofra Archer returns to the ODI side and will share the new ball with Josh Tongue.
