The Uttar Pradesh Police team achieved a historic feat at the World Police & Fire Games 2025, held in Alabama, USA, by securing 95 medals—the highest tally among Indian participants.

This prestigious international event featured thousands of police and fire service personnel from 63 countries competing across various disciplines.

India finished third overall with 560 medals, and the Uttar Pradesh Police’s contribution of 45 gold, 34 silver, and 16 bronze medals was instrumental in this success.

The medals were won in diverse sports including athletics, wrestling, shooting, weightlifting, swimming, archery, judo, taekwondo, and arm wrestling.

Outstanding performances across multiple disciplines

The UP Police athletes excelled across many sports.

Highlights include Hritik Balyan winning gold medals in the 5000m walk, 3000m steeplechase, and half marathon, and archers Shrey Bhardwaj and Dipika Pandey securing multiple golds in traditional and target archery events.

Swimmer Rohit Sharma and athlete Prince Kumar also delivered gold-medal performances in relay and distance running events, respectively.

Taekwondo champions Khushboo Yadav, Seema Kannaujiya, and Pooja brought laurels to the state while wrestling stars such as Ayush Kumar and Sangeeta clinched golds in their categories.

The arm wrestling category saw remarkable wins by Deepa, Ajay Pal, and Rahul Kumar. Other notable medalists included athletes Reshma Patel, Mamata Pal, Balram, and Rishipal Singh in cross-country and walk events.

Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna congratulated the athletes for their discipline, dedication, and for bringing immense honour to the Uttar Pradesh Police and the state.

“Our sporting heroes are not only champions on the field but also shining examples of commitment and pride for the khaki,” he stated.

DGP Krishna attributed the outstanding success to the visionary ‘Kushal Khiladi Yojana’ initiated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, which has fostered sporting talent and revitalised the sports culture within the police force.

A source of pride & inspiration

This record-breaking achievement underscores the Uttar Pradesh Police’s commitment to holistic development, promoting sports alongside their core responsibilities of maintaining law and order.

The athletes’ stellar performance at an international level serves as an inspiration to the youth and a testament to the state’s growing prominence in competitive sports.

Senior police officials hailed the results as a proud moment for Uttar Pradesh and India, further encouraging investment in sports and talent development within the police department.

This landmark success at the World Police & Fire Games 2025 firmly establishes Uttar Pradesh Police as a powerhouse in sports, enhancing the state’s reputation on the global stage and highlighting the impact of sustained encouragement and strategic sports initiatives.
