Harsh Dubey Called Up As Washington Sundar Misses Final ODI Against England

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has included left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder Harsh Dubey in India’s squad for the third and final ODI against England. He replaces Washington Sundar, who has been ruled out after sustaining a right hamstring injury.

Washington Sundar injured his right hamstring during the second ODI at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. The injury forced him to miss the series finale scheduled to be played at Lord’s on Sunday.

According to the BCCI, Sundar will undergo medical scans before consulting a specialist to determine the next course of treatment. The all-rounder is expected to spend the coming weeks recovering from the injury.

Harsh Dubey returns to the ODI squad after making a promising debut against Afghanistan in Dharamshala earlier this year. The left-arm spinner claimed three wickets for 47 runs in his first international appearance.

Dubey recently represented India A during their successful red-ball tour of Sri Lanka. He picked up four wickets across the series and also made valuable contributions with the bat by scoring 30 and 29.

Dubey joins Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav as India’s spin options for the crucial match.

The team management will hope his all-round abilities provide added balance in the must-win encounter.

Once the England series concludes, Dubey will travel to Zimbabwe for India’s three-match ODI series. The matches are scheduled to be played in Harare on 23, 25, and 26 July.

India’s squad comprises Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (vice-captain), KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Gurnoor Brar, Prince Yadav and Harsh Dubey.
