Ahmedabad Firecracker Blast: PM Modi Announces Rs 2 Lakh Ex-Gratia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced financial assistance for the victims of the Ahmedabad firecracker factory explosion, which resulted in the deaths of five people and left several others injured.

The Prime Minister expressed his condolences and assured support to those affected by the tragic incident.

Taking to X, the PMO posted, “Extremely saddened to hear about the loss of lives due to a mishap at a fireworks factory in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to those affected.”

“An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000,” the post further read.

Incident Details

The incident took place at a firecracker manufacturing unit on Ramol-Gatrad Road in Ahmedabad’s Vastral area. The factory was located behind the Rapid Action Force (RAF) camp.

Soon after the blast, emergency teams, including firefighters, police personnel, and RAF officials, rushed to the location.

Fire department personnel brought the flames under control after deploying several fire tenders at the location.

Authorities continued cooling operations to ensure the area remained safe following the explosion.

The injured victims were taken to LG Hospital and Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, where they are receiving medical care.

Initial police findings suggested that the firecracker unit was functioning without proper authorisation.

Investigators are also looking into allegations that the factory continued manufacturing activities even after its licence was cancelled.

Authorities have identified the operator as Mehul Dodiya and are examining the circumstances that led to the blast.

A detailed investigation is also underway to establish the exact reason behind the explosion and determine accountability.

The compensation announced by PM Modi is aimed at helping families affected by the tragedy.
