England Women Beat India By Six Wickets To Clinch T20I Series 2-1

England Women ended their T20I campaign on a high note by defeating India by six wickets in the series decider at Taunton.

The result handed the home side a 2-1 series triumph and provided a timely confidence boost ahead of the Women’s T20 World Cup.

Tasked with chasing 181, England recovered impressively from an uncertain start to complete one of their most notable T20I run chases in recent years.

The turning point came through an outstanding fourth-wicket stand between Alice Capsey and Heather Knight. Capsey attacked from the outset and struck 82 runs from 43 balls, while Knight anchored the innings with an unbeaten 70 from 42 deliveries.

Their 137-run partnership transformed the chase after England had lost three wickets inside the Powerplay. The duo steadily dismantled the Indian bowling attack and placed the hosts in complete control.

Capsey reached her fifty at a rapid pace and continued to accelerate, bringing the required total within easy reach. Although she fell late in the innings, Knight remained at the crease to guide England across the finish line with nine deliveries remaining.

Earlier, India recovered well from early setbacks to register 180/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana were dismissed cheaply, putting pressure on the middle order.

Yastika Bhatia responded with an enterprising innings, striking boundaries regularly to keep the scoreboard moving. A run-out ended her promising innings after she had helped India build momentum.

Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur then steadied the innings with a valuable partnership. Lauren Bell broke the stand by dismissing Rodrigues with a well-disguised slower delivery.

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur led from the front with an unbeaten 56 and ensured her side posted a challenging total. England’s batting depth and the brilliance of Capsey and Knight proved decisive.

The victory gives England valuable momentum heading into the Women’s T20 World Cup. India, meanwhile, will look to address key areas before the tournament begins.
