Kapil Dev was born on 6 January 1959 in Chandigarh. The Haryana player made his international Test debut against arch-rivals Pakistan on 1 October 1978 and soon after that he became a big name in the cricket world.
Kapil Dev registered his name in the pages of history by winning the World Cup trophy in 1983. Kapil Dev surprised the world with his fast bowling and batting skills. At that time he was considered one of the top all-rounders in the world. The illustrious career of the former Indian captain has seen ups and downs both on and off the field.
There was a time when India was counted among the weakest teams in the world of cricket. Then came the day of 25 June 1983. On this day, Team India did what no one had thought about. India won its first World Cup under the captaincy of Kapil Dev and that too by defeating West Indies, who won the title twice. From here the story of Indian cricket changed. After which till now Team India is counted among the best teams in the world.

Kapil Dev played 131 Tests, 225 ODIs in his career. In this, Kapil Dev took 434 and 253 wickets. Not only this, Kapil Dev also scored 5248 runs in Tests and 3783 runs in ODIs with a strike rate of 95.07. Kapil Dev has also been the head coach of the Indian cricket team.
