The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled a cash prize of Rs 131 crore for the Indian men’s cricket team following their remarkable success in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
India etched their name in history by becoming the first nation to defend the T20 World Cup title successfully. The latest reward also marks an increase of Rs 6 crore compared to the Rs 125 crore prize granted after India’s triumph in the 2024 edition.
In an official announcement, the BCCI praised the players, coaching staff and selectors for their outstanding achievement in the global tournament.
“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of INR 131 crore for Team India following their triumphant campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The Board congratulates the players, support staff and selectors once again on this historic achievement and wishes them continued success in the future,” the statement noted.
With this victory, India became the first side to claim the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title three times. The triumph also marked the first time a team won the tournament while hosting it.
Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team displayed dominant performances throughout the competition.
India sealed the championship with a convincing 96-run win over New Zealand in the final. Batting first, the hosts posted a record-breaking total of 253 for five, the highest score in a T20 World Cup final.
Apart from the BCCI reward, India also received prize money from the International Cricket Council (ICC). The champions collected USD 2.34 million (around Rs 21.5 crore), while runners-up New Zealand were awarded USD 1.17 million (approximately Rs 10.75 crore).
Sanju Samson ended the tournament as the Player of the Series after scoring 321 runs in five innings, while Jasprit Bumrah earned the Player of the Match award for his decisive performance in the final.
