Arshdeep Singh awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ for his stellar performance in India’s convincing win over South Africa, revealed that Captain KL Rahul played a crucial role in boosting his confidence after a dip in form during the T20Is. The 24-year-old speedster, who secured his maiden five-wicket haul in ODIs, shared that Rahul encouraged him to aim for a five-for, a challenge he accomplished by dismantling the Proteas for a mere 116 runs.
Singh’s exceptional bowling performance, supported by Avesh Khan, restricted the hosts as they bundled out the Proteas within 28 overs. Debutant Sai Sudarshan and Shreyas Iyer then comfortably chased down the modest target, securing India’s victory in the series opener.
Reflecting on his success, Arshdeep expressed gratitude to Rahul for the guidance and emphasized the importance of enjoying the game. Looking ahead, he acknowledged the need to adapt to conditions in Gqeberha for the next two games.
