In a thrilling IPL 2024 clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, all-rounder Andre Russell made history by completing his 200th IPL six.
Russell’s explosive innings of 41 runs from just 19 balls, at a striking rate of 215.79, included four boundaries and three towering sixes. His milestone moment came in the 17th over as he launched a maximum off Mitchell Marsh’s bowling.
Last week, Russell achieved another landmark by reaching 100 IPL wickets, with 99 of them coming while representing KKR. This feat was accomplished during KKR’s clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

In the match against DC, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer’s decision to bat first proved fruitful as the team posted the second-highest total in IPL history, reaching 272 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Sunil Narine led the charge with a spectacular knock of 85 runs off just 39 balls, supported by debutant Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s maiden IPL fifty, scoring 54 runs in 27 balls.
Rinku Singh added firepower towards the end with a blistering 26 runs off eight balls. DC’s bowling attack faced a tough challenge, with Anrich Nortje emerging as the highest wicket-taker with three dismissals, followed by Ishant Sharma’s two wickets. Khaleel Ahmed and Mitchell Marsh also contributed with a wicket each.
The match showcased Russell’s prowess and KKR’s formidable batting lineup, setting the stage for an exciting season of IPL cricket.
