Ahmedabad turned into a vibrant hub of endurance and national pride as more than 24,000 runners powered through the 9th Adani Ahmedabad Marathon at the Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Park.
Held under the purpose-driven theme #Run4OurSoldiers, the event carried added emotional weight this year against the backdrop of Operation Sindoor, drawing an even wider wave of public solidarity.
Mr Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises Ltd, flagged off the marathon alongside senior Armed Forces leaders, including Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor and Major General Gaurav Bagga.
Fitness icon Mandira Bedi, Olympic medalist Gagan Narang, and actor-producer Preeti Jhangiani also joined the flag-off ceremony.
Designer Aaquib Wani and senior leaders from Adani Sportsline also joined the ceremony.
Indian cricketer and Gujarat Giants signee Yastika Bhatia graced the event, adding to the star presence.
More than 4,000 Armed Forces and police personnel ran alongside thousands of citizens, reinforcing the event’s message of unity and deep respect for India’s defenders.
Participants competed across four race categories: Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K.
The course showcased Ahmedabad’s iconic landmarks, including the Gandhi Ashram, Atal Bridge and Ellis Bridge.
The official marathon jersey, designed by Aaquib Wani, captured the spirit of tribute and endurance.
With a ₹40 lakh prize pool, winners were recognised across open and defence categories.
The AFI-certified and AIMS-listed event strengthened Ahmedabad’s presence on the global distance-running map by meeting world-class benchmarks for accuracy and quality.
Mr Pranav Adani said, “Since 2017, the Ahmedabad Marathon has grown into a landmark embraced by our beloved city.
This year, the message of #Run4OurSoldiers resonated even more strongly as our Armed Forces stood tall during Operation Sindoor. The participation of over 24,000 runners shows how this event has evolved into a movement that Ahmedabad proudly owns.”
Major General Gaurav Bagga added, “This marathon is more than a sporting event; it is a living tribute to the bond between the Armed Forces and the citizens we serve. Watching thousands run shoulder to shoulder reflected the unity and positive spirit that define India.”
Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor noted, “This massive turnout shows how deeply people value fitness and solidarity with the Forces. The energy along the riverfront made the experience unforgettable.”
Mandira Bedi said, “The event beautifully honoured our soldiers. Ahmedabad’s running culture has grown immensely, and the Adani Group has played a major role in this transformation.”
Adani Sportsline thanked the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, City Police and Traffic Police for their seamless coordination.
It also appreciated 108 Emergency Services and KD Hospital for ensuring a smooth and safe event.
As the marathon approaches its 10-year milestone in 2026, it continues to elevate Ahmedabad’s sporting identity and inspire thousands to run with purpose.
