1st T20I Preview: India Eyeing A Winning Start Against Ireland In Belfast

India will commence their two-match T20I series against Ireland in Belfast on Friday, with Shreyas Iyer returning to captain the national side in the shortest format.

The contest marks the beginning of a new phase for the team as it blends experienced campaigners with emerging young talent.

All eyes will be on 17-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who is on the verge of earning his maiden international cap after impressive displays in IPL 2026 and for India A. His inclusion has generated considerable excitement ahead of the series opener.

The Indian management faces a difficult selection decision, with established top-order batters Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan already competing for places.

Finding room for Sooryavanshi without disturbing the batting balance will be one of the key talking points.
