Govt Urges Social Media Platforms Not To Post Misleading Information About Ram Temple Consecration

Regarding the Ram Temple event, the government has requested that social media and media outlets abstain from disseminating misleading and manipulative content. On January 22, a grand ceremony will be held to inaugurate the Ram Temple, featuring the Pran-Pratishtha of Lord Ram Lalla. The pre-consecration ceremonies started on January 16, one week before D-Day.

Before the event, several phony social media links purporting to offer VIP tickets for Ram Temple Prasad are making the rounds.

“Some unverified, provocative and fake messages were being spread, especially on social media, which can disturb communal harmony and public order,” the information and broadcasting ministry stated in its advisory. “Further, as part of their due diligence obligations, social media platforms are advised to make reasonable efforts to not host, display or publish information of the nature mentioned above,” the advisory said.

The Central Consumer Protection Authority served a notice to Amazon on Friday requesting that they remove the listing for “Shri Ram Mandir Ayodhya Prashad.” According to Amazon, it is responding to these listings appropriately and following its policies.

A few days prior, instant VIP tickets for the Pran-Pratishthaevent were promised in an extensively circulated WhatsApp message containing a fictitious QR code. It has been clarified by the Temple Trust that the Pran-Pratishthaevent is invitation-only, with invitations being sent out by the Trust to the chosen guests.
