Indian Archers Reach Quarterfinals In Mixed Team Event; Upcoming Match Against Spain

Indian archers Ankita Bhakat & Dhiraj Bommadevara advanced to the quarterfinals of the mixed team event after securing a decisive 5-1 victory over Indonesia’s Diananda Choirunisa and Arif Pangestu on Friday.

Competing at the Invalides, Bhakat and Bommadevara dominated the match with set scores of 37-36, 38-38, and 38-37.

The Indian duo initially won the first set comfortably, with the Indonesians leveling in the second.

However, Bhakat and Bommadevara quickly regained their form to claim the third set and secure their spot in the quarterfinals.

India is likely to face Spain in the next round, with the quarterfinal match scheduled for 5:45 PM IST.

In other events, India’s performance in individual archery faced setbacks.

Four-time Olympian Tarundeep Rai was eliminated in the opening round, and Dhiraj Bommadevara narrowly missed advancing further after a close second-round loss.

Both the men’s and women’s teams failed to progress past the quarterfinal stage.

In the women’s individual event, seasoned archers Deepika Kumari and Bhajan Kaur have advanced to the pre-quarterfinals.

However, Ankita Bhakat’s campaign ended in the first round.
