Save water today or tomorrow you'll pay.
According to WHO/UNICEF, every year, about 1.4 million people die and 74 million have their lives shortened by diseases related to poor water sanitation and hygiene. In today’s time, 1 in 4 humans on earth – that rounds off to 2 billion people around the globe lack clean and safe consumable water. Moreover, all around the globe, 44 percent of household wastewater is not safely treated. Hence water safety has become the need of the hour. Annually, 22nd March is celebrated as World Water Day. The motto for the same this year is ‘Accelerating Change’ to solve the water and sanitation crisis.
The imbalance that is there in the entire water cycle leads to many global issues. It starts from health to hunger, gender equality to jobs, education to industry, and disasters to peace.
In the year 2015, the world made a commitment that every person on the earth would have access to safe water and sanitation. It was promised under the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 as part of the 2030 Agenda.
But the agenda is losing its path, according to the United Nation. Latest reports show that governments should work on average 4 times faster to meet SDG 6 on time. But the fact of the matter is that there is no one group that can solve this issue completely. All the members of society need to take part in this.
