Uttarakhand Tourism And Indian Railways Launch ‘Manaskhand Corridor Yatra’ To Promote Ancient Temples

Uttarakhand Tourism Department, in collaboration with Indian Railways, is set to launch the ‘Manaskhand Corridor Yatra’ next week, aimed at promoting the ancient temples of the Kumaon region, officials announced on Saturday. The initiative will kick off with a special train journey from Pune to Tanakpur in Pithoragarh district, starting from April 22, revealed District Tourism Officer Kirti Chand Arya.

The ‘Manaskhand Corridor Yatra’ offers a comprehensive 7-day, 6-night tour package to explore the revered temples of the Manaskhand region. Pilgrims will disembark at Khatima, located approximately one kilometer from Tanakpur, where they will be transported to the temples via road.

Two dedicated trains are scheduled to depart from Pune, with one arriving at Khatima on April 24 and the other on April 26. Khatima has been designated as the final stop due to its superior amenities, including accommodations and other facilities, compared to Tanakpur.

During the pilgrimage, devotees will have the opportunity to visit various temples and religious sites across Tanakpur, Champawat, Pithoragarh, and Almora. They will receive insightful briefings on the mythological significance of each site, enhancing their spiritual journey.

The itinerary includes visits to notable temples such as Baleswar, Maneswar, and Mayawati in Champawat; Hat Kalika and Patal Bhubaneswar in Pithoragarh; and Jageswar, Golu Devta, Nanda Devi, Kasar Devi, and Katarmal in Almora. Additionally, pilgrims will have the chance to pay homage at Nanakmatta Sahib Gurudwara in Udham Singh Nagar and the Naina Devi temple in Nainital, enriching their cultural and religious experience.

The ‘Manaskhand Corridor Yatra’ promises to be an enriching journey, offering pilgrims the opportunity to immerse themselves in the spiritual heritage and ancient traditions of the Kumaon region, while also exploring its natural beauty and cultural significance.
