Extended August Weekend Fuels Surge In Intercity Bus Travel

The August calendar is giving travellers a festive treat, with many planning 4–5 day getaways. This extended weekend has triggered a sharp rise in intercity travel demand, especially by bus, due to its convenience, affordability, and growing connectivity.

Travel trends show that spiritual and hill destinations are recording the highest interest.

Many travellers are revisiting their heritage, seeking serene escapes, or simply taking a break from city life. Sanjay Jadoun, CEO of YoloBus, revealed six cities that are dominating travel bookings this season.

Varanasi – Spiritual and Cultural Reboot

Varanasi, one of the world’s oldest and holiest cities, continues to attract pilgrims seeking spiritual awakening.

Visitors watch the mesmerising Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat and wander through centuries-old alleys, soaking in the city’s soul-stirring atmosphere.

Manali – Cool Weather and Adventure

Manali, nestled in Himachal Pradesh’s mountains, is drawing tourists looking for crisp air and breathtaking views.

Adventure enthusiasts enjoy paragliding and trekking, while others relax in cosy hillside cafés. The destination appeals equally to couples, youth, and groups.

Rishikesh – Peace Meets Thrill

Rishikesh offers a rare blend of tranquillity and excitement. Tourists engage in white-water rafting, bungee jumping, and trekking, while wellness seekers join yoga retreats by the Ganga for a rejuvenating experience.

Hyderabad – Culture, Cuisine, and Contrasts

Hyderabad delights visitors with its royal heritage and contemporary energy. The city serves up iconic biryani, showcases historic sites like Golconda Fort, and captivates shoppers with the vibrant chaos of local bazaars.
