Stepfather Sentenced To Life Imprisonment In Ghaziabad Under Mission Shakti

Ghaziabad witnesses a landmark verdict as a POCSO Court sentences a stepfather to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting his minor stepdaughter.

The case was pursued under the Mission Shakti Phase-05 campaign. It was also part of the Operation Conviction initiative. The proceedings demonstrate the authorities’ zero-tolerance policy toward crimes against women and children.

The heinous crime occurred on July 20, 2025, in the Shadiyabad police jurisdiction, when the accused, Ashok Banwasi, attacked his stepdaughter. The police registered an FIR on the same day and arrested the perpetrator on July 21.

Investigation Officer Shyamji Yadav led a meticulous inquiry, gathering both forensic and verbal evidence to strengthen the case. Police filed the charge sheet on August 27, and the court began daily hearings on September 9, treating the matter with utmost seriousness.

The court confirmed the charges on September 12 and declared the accused guilty on September 26, within 15 days. He received a sentence of life imprisonment along with a fine of ₹1 lakh.

Key Contributors to the Verdict

The outcome owes much to the coordinated efforts of the Shadiyabad police team, including Dashrath Lal Bind and Jamuna Prasad, court official Ram Pratap Mishra, public prosecutor Prabhu Narayan Singh, and the vigilant supervision of the local Station Officer, Bhudkura.

Ghaziabad Superintendent of Police hailed the verdict as a significant success for Mission Shakti. He emphasised that the police will not tolerate crimes against women and children.

The quick and strict punishment sends a clear message to society that offenders will face the full force of the law.

The case reinforces the impact of proactive policing, efficient investigation, and strong judicial intervention in protecting vulnerable sections of society.

Authorities stress that Mission Shakti continues to prioritise the safety and empowerment of women and girls. They add that the initiative strengthens public confidence in law enforcement.
