SCO Young Writers’ Conference Concludes In Delhi With Digital-Era Creative Dialogue

New Delhi witnessed the successful conclusion of the second Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Young Writers’ Conference on September 26, 2025.

Organised by the National Book Trust under the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, the two-day event brought together young creative minds from SCO member states to discuss the future of creativity in the digital age.

Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, underscored the importance of books as tools of learning even as technology advances.

He emphasised that shared literature and culture continue to strengthen civilisational ties among SCO nations. Alok A Dimri, India’s SCO National Coordinator and Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, applauded the spirit of cooperation among youth, while Minara Rakhanova from the SCO Secretariat praised India’s efforts to support young creative talent and sustain cultural exchange.

Creative Dialogues Across Mediums

Across six thematic sessions, participants debated the transformative impact of digitisation on literature, cinema, music, art, radio and television.

Speakers from India, China, Russia, Uzbekistan and Iran explored how AI, digital platforms and traditional media intersect. Highlights included discussions on digitising literary cultures, preserving folk traditions through new media, and ensuring authenticity and ethical responsibility in podcasts and broadcasting.

The conference highlighted India’s New Education Policy 2020 and Gyan Bharat Mission and showcased the digitisation of more than 4.4 million manuscripts. Young writers shared personal experiences, stressing the platform’s role in fostering dialogue and creativity among SCO countries.

The Ministry of Education reiterated India’s commitment to promoting youth talent and cultural diplomacy. It also reaffirmed its focus on building an inclusive digital knowledge society within the SCO region.

The conference concluded with a vote of thanks by National Book Trust Director Yuvraj Malik. He reaffirmed that the platform is not merely an event but a movement to shape collaborative and culturally rooted creative futures.
